A child's journal
This is a page from Heathers diary.
Editors' Note: A teacher in a Christian Science Sunday School was reviewing the Ten Commandments with his class of six-year-olds. He felt stumped, however, at how to explain the seventh commandment, "Thou shalt not commit adultery." Ex. 20: 14. After a few awkward attempts, he asked the class what they thought it meant. One little boy, in a breathtaking associative leap from the previous commandment, announced, "It means, 'Thou shalt not kill marriage.'"
However far we may feel we've progressed in the understanding of Christian Science, it's unlikely we've outgrown Christ Jesus' command to "become as little children." Matt. 18:3. If we are to gain the fresh insights into Truth that result in healing, we urgently need the child's ability to skip over the ruts of habitual thought and perception. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy tells us, "Jesus loved little children because of their freedom from wrong and their receptiveness of right." Science and Health, p. 236.
