As a child I attended a Christian Science Sunday School
As a child I attended a Christian Science Sunday School. During the Second World War, this Science was prohibited in our country, and afterward I was no longer interested in it. Then, about ten years ago, I became quite ill. Out of despair and fear I asked a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer. The healing did not come at once, but the fact that health was being gradually restored only increased my earnest desire to delve more deeply into this teaching.
After returning to the study of Science, I realized how wonderfully God had guided and protected me throughout the years, although I had frequently believed that He was very far away. After a time of attending church services and testimony meetings regularly, I became a member of The Mother Church and a branch church. I also took Christian Science class instruction. These steps have blessed me and my family tremendously, and I find that the yearly association meeting contributes greatly to my growing understanding of God and ability to demonstrate His spiritual law. We have had many physical healings in our family. Financial, occupational, and relationship problems have also been solved through Christian Science.
Some months ago these verses were a comforting help to me when I was faced with an alarming disorder (Ps. 139:1, 3, 14): "O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. ... Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.... I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." We had just finished a major renovation project in the house. For weeks I felt slight but continuing pain in the upper parts of my body. At first I considered this an aftereffect of the heavy work I'd been doing. But then I realized the condition should not be ignored. One day I noticed a rather large lump in my breast. I was so frightened that for a while I felt in a daze. But was it God's will for me to resign myself to the trouble? Certainly not! I saw that in my true being as God's likeness, it was the purpose of my existence to express and glorify Him.
