Good—our true heritage

Who hasn't at some point listened to the suggestion of inherited characteristics? When these are bad, we don't like them and are apt to condemn ourselves or a parent. When they are good, we enjoy them and are apt to congratulate ourselves. But in either case, belief in heredity can limit our individual development and hide our capacity to prove our real identity as an expression of God, our parent Mind.

The only parent we can truly reflect is our Father-Mother God, for "God is the parent Mind, and man is God's spiritual offspring," Science and Health, p. 336. Mrs. Eddy states in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health. The creator of man beholds, knows, sees, only good, for "without him [the divine Word] was not any thing made that was made." John 1:3.

The recognition and acceptance of God, Love, as infinite, act in our lives as law, with power to expose and nullify beliefs of evil, or error, as no part of our true, divine heritage. Mrs. Eddy explains, "It is this infinitude and oneness of good that silences the supposition that evil is a claimant or a claim." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 259.
