Daily I am thankful that Christian Science was brought to my attention many years ago by a dear friend. In a testimony published in the Christian Science Sentinel over a decade ago, I related how this friend introduced me to Science when I was told by doctors that I had an incurable condition of the spine. I am grateful to say that the healing of this condition has proved permanent.
Since that time I have had other healings through prayer in Science. An ugly bump above one of my eyes yielded to Christian Science treatment and disappeared. Another time, the hearing in one ear became impaired. Shortly afterward, I attended a Christian Science lecture, which so inspired me that for the first time I felt able to tackle the problem. I then asked a Christian Science practitioner for help. This was graciously given, and soon the difficulty vanished entirely. Aside from these two incidents, I have enjoyed consistent good health. In some measure, this statement of Mrs. Eddy's has been proved in my life (Science and Health, p. 369): "The prophylactic and therapeutic (that is, the preventive and curative) arts belong emphatically to Christian Science, as would be readily seen, if psychology, or the Science of Spirit, God, was understood." In addition to good health I have felt abundantly blessed in every other department of life, too.
Christian Science, which helps us see the truth of every condition or circumstance, has always come to my rescue—not as an escape but (as I have learned bit by bit) as a corrective. By maintaining in thought the fact that the harmony of God's spiritual universe is unimpeachable, I have witnessed improvements in my community—especially in changes of attitude. Where before there often seemed to be much neglect and a general lack of concern, now I see more evidence of man's innate goodness and kind ways.
