You can let them go

I used to wonder how I could ever let my children go without casting them adrift, without leaving them to churn through a sea of mistakes until they somehow found the right course. Then, through Christian Science it became increasingly clear that what the parent has to let go of is the false concept of his children, the notion that they are immature, vulnerable mortals.

God, Spirit, is the real Father and Mother of man, and His creation is wholly spiritual. Mrs. Eddy writes: "Divine metaphysics concedes no origin or causation apart from God. It accords all to God, Spirit, and His infinite manifestations of love—man and the universe." Message to The Mother Church for 1902, p. 7;

As this viewpoint gains ground in consciousness, we see the child God has made—mature, intelligent, pure, and healthy. Isn't the perfect love spoken of by John expressed in this spiritual seeing? Such love, such perception, is part of the true nature of every parent. And the most cherished desire of the parent who expresses such love is to see the spiritual development of each child—in other words, to see the gradual appearing of Spirit's offspring here and now. Letting go of material concepts clears the way for this appearing and enables one to rely on God as the true Parent—as all-seeing and all-knowing.
