The Illinois Supreme Court recently denied mutual property rights to an unmarried cohabitant, basing the decision on the state's marriage act and citing the act's intent of "strengthening and preserving the integrity of marriage." Quoted in North Eastern Reporter, Second Series, November 14, 1979 (St. Paul, Minn.: West Publishing Co.), p. 1209;
And yet, like floodwaters lapping at the foundation of a sturdy landmark, social upheaval and immorality are corroding the institution of family.
