The healing power of Christian Science is evident in the lives of its students. When a healing is slow, it is valuable for the courage, faith, and patience demanded of the individual. But the immediate destruction of disease or inharmony must be our goal. And the inevitability and simplicity of the truth make this possible.

At one time I needed a temporary part-time job to occupy me in some spare hours and to augment a small income. In a city as vast as London, that could be like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack. One afternoon I went to a Christian Science Reading Room to study and pray about this need facing me. I found an abundance of appropriate study material, which to me was evidence of spiritual supply, "pressed down, and shaken together, and running over" (Luke 6:38).

Fortified by the inspiration of my study, I boarded a bus for home. On the way we passed the premises of a firm I knew of, and for which I was a suitable prospective employee. I got off the bus and was allowed to speak at once to the proprietor of the business. All he asked was, "How much do you want, and when can you start?" I began work there the next day on very satisfactory terms— about doubling my income—to our mutual satisfaction. I have learned to expect good in my life as natural evidence of God's love, but I must say I was a little surprised at such an immediate proof of divine Love's guidance.
