Courage to heal

A deep and significant kind of boldness is involved in the act of true Christian healing. A genuine Christ-cure will be far more widely practiced by all Christians when greater courage is developed on this particular point: having the fearlessness to deny reality to evil.

People who love God easily acknowledge Him as infinite, ever present. They are glad to accept Him as good, divine, supreme. But when it comes to standing firmly behind what those concepts imply, most Christians retreat. They are reluctant to accept the only honest conclusion that can be drawn if God is infinite, All: evil is unreal. It does take spiritual grit to stand up to evil and recognize it as baseless.

What gives us the courage to reject evil as real? It is the Christ—God's pure message to us. Not human philosophy or rationalization, but Christ itself reveals in consciousness the fact that evil is a lie. The Christ gave Jesus authority to say of the devil: "He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." John 8:44; And Jesus' healings gave overwhelming proof that his assessment of evil was accurate.
