An orderly day
I would be orderly, Father.
Closets, cupboards, and garden shed
tidy, with everything in its place.
I would have my comings and goings orderly too,
governed by Principle.
First things first, not far away down the list
of the day's activities. (Especially our morning talk, Father.
If only I listened more, rather than hurrying
to tell You just how my schedule should go!)
Since I know I am Yours, not a disorderly mortal
but man in Your likeness, I can surely have
a day of fulfillment, of orderly living,
of sharing Your joy with a sorrowing world
through the radiant presence of Life.
I know, Father, that each one of us can shine
as the bright morning star that John told us about
by reflecting Your allness,
the glory of infinite Love.
And we can start on this journey of orderly living
if we really want to
today.
