Rising to the spontaneous moment
The spontaneous invitation from close friends to come straight across for dinner can have a special kind of appeal. But much more, the spiritually inspired moment. When we keep ourselves properly ready, the thing we need to know, or say, or do, can come to us unexpectedly and unbidden—spontaneously. The healing, uplifted moment and the unpremeditated gesture that is kind and apt and affectionate can be a matter of demonstration, a proof of Love's love for each of us.
All true thought and action arise in divine Life and Mind, in God. One of the satisfactions of living Christian Science is the looking for and the finding of the freshness that each moment offers to us as we begin knowing this truth.
Christian Science prayer, or treatment, should be characterized by spontaneity. Unlike conventional material treatment, it is not a kind of standard prescription, chosen from a range, to apply again and again to similar-looking problems. It is intuitive and inspirational, never formularized or mechanical.
