This is written with deep gratitude to God for the protection our family and friends staying with us experienced during a terrorist attack on our home last year. A rocket, stick grenade, and hail of bullets were aimed at us through a glass-fronted lounge, where four of us were seated. The attack lasted about a minute and was heard over five miles away. Yet in the face of this, we were confident of God's guardianship, His supreme government of His spiritual ideas.
Truly, God's control over His universe is complete. Our safety was proof that the so-called forces of evil are powerless to harm one who understandingly acknowledges divine Mind's sovereign control. Before the police and Army troops arrived, the eight people in the house (all of whom have attended the Christian Science Sunday School) moved quietly into the passage, where we sang hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal. Most consisted of words by Mrs. Eddy, such as this verse from "Mother's Evening Prayer" (No. 207):
