Food for all
Effective prayer for starving Cambodians, whose country has been ravaged by civil war, involves understanding that man, the image of God, can never be labeled "victim of famine."
Christ Jesus knew that God's idea, man, is invariably supplied with everything needful. The Master's understanding of this truth brought immediate proof. It took only one man to feed more than five thousand people. See Matt. 14:15-21; And today the Christ, the saving Truth, is with us as surely as in Jesus' time. "Christ, Truth," writes our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, "gives mortals temporary food and clothing until the material, transformed with the ideal, disappears, and man is clothed and fed spiritually." Speed in delivering food to the Cambodians is essential. Henry R. Labouisse, executive director of UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund), warned recently, "A grave famine is likely." Quoted in The New York Times, October 1, 1979; And The Christian Science Monitor says: "It is estimated that between 2 and 3 million people within Cambodia face starvation.
