Christian Science comforted and healed me when my mother...
Christian Science comforted and healed me when my mother and husband both passed on within a week's time. Friends showered me with many kindnesses. I was also strengthened by this statement of Mrs. Eddy's (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 306): "When angels visit us, we do not hear the rustle of wings, nor feel the feathery touch of the breast of a dove; but we know their presence by the love they create in our hearts. Oh, may you feel this touch,—it is not the clasping of hands, nor a loved person present; it is more than this: it is a spiritual idea that lights your path!"
When I needed to sell my house and find a simpler place to live, a friend sent me a leaflet published by The Christian Science Publishing Society. It was a great help and encouraged me to trust God's infinite plan and provision for His idea, man. In a few months I had sold the house. With the proceeds I was able to move into a lovely mobile home and to live quite comfortably. Everything had gone smoothly and quickly—proof that God was with me all the way.
Although I worked hard getting my new quarters and yard in shape, I took time to reread many of Mrs. Eddy's writings. I felt in need of the spiritual uplift they offered, to start me on my new life alone. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy assures us (pp. 103-104): "Life and being are of God. In Christian Science, man can do no harm, for scientific thoughts are true thoughts, passing from God to man." I learned to trust these divine messages, which guide and sustain us.
