Gratitude, not complaint, heals
Grateful people live, as it were, in the light. They are usually better liked than complainers. They are happier, more beautiful in character, and they feel spiritually richer—more complete. Moreover, they exert a better influence on society, and if their gratitude is derived from divine Spirit, reflecting God's satisfaction with His own creation, they are better equipped to heal themselves and others of physical and mental discord. Gratitude is an important factor in healing. As Vivian Burnett says in a poem—now set to music and sung as a hymn in Christian Science church services:
Our gratitude is riches,
Complaint is poverty. Christian Science Hymnal, No. 249;
