Finally . . . sacrifice . . .
Occurred when
shallow pleasure-seeking melted,
mortal distractions fled.
I awoke to see
the tenacious base of materialism
dissolving.
Then the roadway was swept
clean—free.
A steeper climb ensued,
but now I fathom
clearer, joyful, more penetrating
spiritual views;
for sacrifice brought the Christ
tenderly to me—
so now, all is new!
