How I found Christian Science!

In a restless world, in which many a person greets with skepticism a strong conviction of God, one sees nevertheless how mankind, unconsciously, are wholeheartedly searching for God. In conversing with one's neighbor, one hears how great his desire is for love, peace, health, and order.

Some decades ago, when my fatherland got into political confusion, when dictatorship and injustice caused many people to feel discouraged and hopeless, my family and I longed for justice, security, and assurance from the bottom of our hearts. When I discussed this with a kind neighbor, she gave me a relatively old copy of The Herald of Christian Science and related a healing her mother had had through Christian Science. So I read this Herald. I shall never forget how happy this reading material made me, how it released me. It was like a wonderful light extinguishing the darkness of my hopelessness. Indeed, it was simply overwhelming, for I had found the true God, divine Mind, Spirit. For everything that mankind deeply long for represents God: love, justice, intelligence, life, the only power and government. Indeed, I had found God! This new understanding of God led me further.
