Who wants to be spiritual? You do!
Have you thought that being spiritual was to be a shadowy, ghostlike thing flitting around? Has it been difficult for you to see yourself as spiritual?
The five senses tell us that what we see, smell, taste, hear, and touch is the real. They call the deteriorating, limited, material world reality. In Christian Science we learn that exactly the opposite is true. Mrs. Eddy says: "Intelligent Spirit, Soul, is substance, far more impregnable and solid than matter; for one is temporal, while the other is eternal, the ultimate and predicate of being." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 103;
The spiritual senses are saying that God is good and there is no other power. If we listen to God and act on what we learn, we are using these Godlike senses, and the result is harmony. If we see our friends (and our enemies) in the light of Truth, we are beginning to see them as they eternally are. As we listen to God's good thoughts and let them be our thoughts, we are feeling joy and freedom and will not be concerned about what a material body is feeling. In this way we become aware of our spiritual selfhood, and the material gives place.
