The art of letting go

Nothing is more satisfying than letting go of a limited, material sense of things and acknowledging God to be what He truly is: All. We can do this if we heed the Bible's wise counsel: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Prov. 3:5, 6;

Do we really trust God with all our heart? Do we trust Him enough to subordinate our human effort to manage affairs to His wise government? Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered and founded Christian Science, tells us, "Be sure that God directs your way; then, hasten to follow under every circumstance." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 117; This is not always easy to do because of the tenacity of mortal thinking. But it is the only certain way to find happiness, and it is essential for our spiritual progress. Absolute reliance on divine Mind's presence and power destroys the false suggestions of mortal mind. Such reliance demands moral courage, persistence, and an unwavering conviction of God's care and love.

Decisions claim our attention every day. Do we hastily suggest an answer or do we turn at once to God? The one divine Mind gives unerring direction, which comes in different ways—perhaps through a Bible verse, through a clear-cut recognition of a step to take, through spiritual intuition in the quietness of prayer. Mind, being infallible, never mistakes or fails.
