Shifting obstacles with truth

All blockages are mental blockages. The healing practice of Christian Science shows this to be a right analysis. Regardless of what frustrating obstruction we may face, Science shows us how to do something effective about shifting it—quite dissolving it—with the truth of being. First of all we need to look at what we think—what we know of God and man.

An early step in shifting an obstruction to something right and good is to realize the all-power of God. God is not only omnipotent but omnipresent. Within God, then, there is no resistance to good. And there is no outside to God and His expression, man and the universe. Good is never obstructed, simply because God is never absent from man and creation.

There was a graphic proof of this many hundreds of years ago. Paul and Silas, the Bible narrates, were imprisoned for preaching Christianity. But they were not really blocked by the material stocks and cell. It was the belief that man can be finite and confined that needed removing—a mental change was required. They did something essentially mental in nature: they prayed. And they expressed their sense of the freeing power of God in song. And "all the doors were opened" (see Acts 16).
