God's help for certain

One spring morning before school, Nan and her girlfriends gathered on the school steps waiting for the doors to be opened. They talked excitedly about the field trip the fifth grade was going to make the next day to the university's natural history museum. Everyone had the permission slip her mom or dad had signed ready to give to the teacher. They talked about what they would take for lunch, how much money they were going to bring for treats, and who would sit next to whom on the bus trip. After a while, Nan mentioned that Cindy wasn't at school yet. She wondered where she could be.

"I tried to call her last night," answered Carol, "but her mom said that her throat was too sore for her to talk and that she would be out of school for maybe a week. Poor Cindy! She's going to miss the neatest trip of the whole year."

Nan agreed. Poor Cindy!
