My testimony in The Christian Science Journal of January 1961...

My testimony in The Christian Science Journal of January 1961 describes my introduction to Christian Science by the small children with whom I baby-sat as a teen-ager.

In later years the true fatherhood and motherhood of God had to be firmly grasped when I was left alone to support myself and my children. The youngsters had been enrolled early in the Christian Science Sunday School, while I continued to serve and grow in branch church work. God lovingly cared for us, provided for us, and guided us. When problems seemed insurmountable, we called a conference and talked things over, not as parent and children, but as three equals, all listening for our Father's voice. It was amazing—the beautiful wisdom readily expressed by the children. They grew up feeling needed, and they shared in the responsibilities of the household.

My love for the children, home, and teaching in the Sunday School prompted friends to frequently urge me to consider remarrying in order to further share that love, have adult companionship, and find fulfillment for the time when the children would be leaving home.
