I am very grateful for many years of excellent health with only my understanding of Christian Science to aid me.

Earlier, although I was born and raised in a family of Christian Scientists, the worldly temptations of drinking and smoking were indulged for a period. Medicines were used to combat my many illnesses. After one unhappy marriage that had ended, and another that seemed failing, I finally, in desperation, turned to my copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which had too long been unused.

My parents were ill, and I was alone with the situation, as my sister and brothers were far away. With two small children to care for, and both parents ill, my plight seemed to have no answer. Step by step, all needs were met. Though my parents passed on later, my trust in Christian Science had become unshakable.
