Our family has had many instances of protection and healing...
Our family has had many instances of protection and healing through complete reliance on God, "who healeth all thy diseases" (Ps. 103:3). These healings include quick and complete restoration through prayer alone in two cases of severe burns; healing of a fractured wrist of one of our children, who was then a kindergartner; and in the diagnosed case of mononucleosis of another daughter away at college. In each situation, healing came through the application of this wonderful Science of Christianity. How grateful I am for the promised Comforter, divine Science, and for the teachings of Christ Jesus on which it is firmly based.
The following healing of a lump in my breast occurred over five years ago. I was completing a year of graduate study at a university, and I was required by the state to have a full medical examination before being granted a teaching credential. During the process of this examination at the university hospital, a lump in one breast caused concern. The examining doctor requested that I see the head physician, who in turn insisted I have an immediate surgical appointment. I told her I was a Christian Scientist, and ended the discussion by saying with conviction, "I've relied all my life on Christian Science for healing, and I'm not going to change now." Before I left she insisted on pressing an appointment slip for surgery in my hand with a telephone number for me to call.
I went home and called, instead, a Christian Science practitioner, who agreed to support me in my stand for Christian Science healing. I had ignored this lump till now as it had not bothered me, even though it had been referred to a year before when I had had a chest X-ray required by the schools. At that time, although I was given the needed clearance, I was also sent a letter advising me to check with a physician.
