Establishing Heaven on Earth
Today groups of individuals representing many diverse social and economic concepts are seeking ways and means of working more harmoniously with each other, and of permanently avoiding disastrous military struggles. Active, dedicated Christian Scientists are among those who are praying for the success of these conferences.
For nearly two thousand years the words and works of Christ Jesus have been looked upon expectantly as the very foundation of an ideal social order, and during the last century—since the advent of Christian Science—the potentialities of Christianity have been becoming clearer and nearer.
Along with other Christians, Christian Scientists take seriously the prayer of Christ Jesus: "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." Matt. 6:10; While the important consideration is the will or kingdom of God, it is equally important to recognize the inseparable relationship between heaven and earth that is involved in this statement. Jesus knew and demonstrated that peace on earth is the inevitable result of the operation of divine law in the everyday lives of the people.
