Truth's Government Brings Healing

Human government does not always operate the way we think it should. Citizens hold diverse opinions on issues, on liberal and conservative concepts, on what constitutes corruption and abuse and misuse of power. The search for leaders sometimes produces leadership that satisfies us and lives up to our expectations. Too often, we are let down by leaders and severely disappointed.

Healing in government must begin in our own consciousness. Our concept of how and why we are governed controls our experience. Our concepts are clarified, deepened, and strengthened by Christian Science. Turning to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy for spiritual insight, we find the following statement: "God has endowed man with inalienable rights, among which are self-government, reason, and conscience. Man is properly self-governed only when he is guided rightly and governed by his Maker, divine Truth and Love." Science and Health, p. 106;

As we understand better, and delve more deeply into, this concept of true government, we are enabled to become better healers of discordant situations. The source of all government is in God. Because all things exist in and of God and are endowed by Him with perfection, eternity, and goodness, according to the Scriptures, it is here we must begin.
