I would like to express gratitude for the wonderful changes in my life since I began to study Christian Science.
In the spring of 1967 I was suffering periodically from a slipped spinal disk, for which I had been hospitalized and in traction for eleven days in late 1964. In December of 1967, after a difficult business experience, my blood pressure, a chronic concern for over fifteen years, was said to be critically high. During that same period my wife was taking three different prescribed medications four times each day; she had become a dependent drinker and was visiting a psychiatrist weekly.
One Sunday evening the following April, as I began to read for the first time Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, the slipped disk clicked back into place effortlessly and painlessly. A copy of Science and Health had been given to me earlier that day. I will always remember with great affection the loving Christian Scientists who had welcomed me that morning to my first Christian Science church service. That church service and the book given me marked a great turning point in my life, and in the lives of my family as well. For the first time I began to understand God as Love, as Life, as infinite Mind and divine Principle. This was a God I could relate to. I began to understand the distinction between Jesus and his exemplification of the Christ-power. It was a grand awakening.
