I have been a student of Christian Science since the age of twelve, when my loving mother enrolled me in a Christian Science Sunday School. I am most grateful for all the love and understanding expressed to me by both my parents and all of my Sunday School teachers during my adolescent years. To realize something of God's power and tender love gave me strength and a foundation I could rely on. During my college and young adult life I had many instances of divine guidance, protection, and healing.

I am most grateful for a healing that was complete about a year ago. Not only was there a physical healing, but also a healing concerning discord with a family member.

While settling my mother's estate, I encountered mounting problems. The greatest was a difficulty with a family member who seemed most unreasonable. Resentment was expressed by both of us. One day I awoke with extreme pain in my lower back. I was unable to walk without great difficulty. I had never experienced such discomfort. I studied the Bible, and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and prayed; but when I tried to rise out of a chair, I literally had to crawl on my hands and knees to pull myself up by my arms on the couch. I realized that error had really brought me to my knees. I knew what I had done in allowing myself to hate. No matter how justified it might seem, there was no way I could indulge in this any longer. I knew I needed a deep spiritual cleansing, and I prayed to be freed of wanting to hate. I also asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me.
