Do we love to love?

Family Relationships

Bad family relationships! The unspeakable heartbreak and misery these have bestowed on humanity need urgently to be healed. Indeed, if we cannot heal bad relationships at the family level, how can we hope to succeed on the international scene? One could say the family is a proving ground for the basis of good relations. But what is the basis itself?

Deeply troubled by personality clashes and intergeneration problems, and apparently trapped within them, many may feel that except for the small hope that the other person or persons may change, there is no way out. (Are the others perhaps saying the same thing?) The gentle but powerful Science of Christianity shows how the only radical and effective method of healing strained family relationships can be brought into operation.

Study of Jesus' life and works in the light of Christian Science reveals the divinely inspired, Christly method by which he brought harmony to unhappy lives. When humanity seemed, as it still does, to be enmeshed in ills, convinced of their substantiality and able to contemplate little else, Jesus turned constantly to the invisible but always effective presence of God. Where humanity saw bickering, suffering mortals, he saw perfect, spiritual immortals. Where we tend to try to love others despite their faults (which we can often enumerate in great detail), he loved enough to instantly forgive others and fully destroy the fault. He was able to remove the millstone of condemnation from their necks, see them as fellow children of the same infinite Father-Mother Love, and let them go free.
