Paul and the Churches
The Bible tells us about a man who was first known as Saul of Tarsus. He was a religious man who wanted to do what was right. But he didn't know what was right. He didn't understand the followers of Jesus, and he made trouble for them.
One day Saul was on his way to a city named Damascus where he was to catch some of Jesus' followers and tie them up and take them off to punish them. He believed this was right. The Bible says in Acts, "Suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven." Then a voice said, "I am Jesus whom thou persecutest." Acts 9:3, 5;
Saul saw Jesus in a new light. The light that Saul saw was the Christ, Truth, which Jesus had come to show to mankind. Jesus has been called Christ Jesus because he showed Truth so clearly in his life. Jesus healed people because he saw that evil was no part of them.
