What Have We Inherited?
How many of us realize that when Christ Jesus used the name "Father" for God he challenged every phase of what is called the law of heredity? His words "Call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven" Matt. 23:9; require that we consider ourselves as we are in truth—spiritual, made in the likeness of our Father-Mother God.
The perfect man of God's creating is described by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, in this way: "In Science man is the offspring of Spirit. The beautiful, good, and pure constitute his ancestry. His origin is not, like that of mortals, in brute instinct, nor does he pass through material conditions prior to reaching intelligence. Spirit is his primitive and ultimate source of being; God is his Father, and Life is the law of his being." Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 63;
