On Your Mark, Get Set, Grow!

Over the loudspeaker the voice called out, "All runners for the 440 relay report to your starting post!"

My knees were trembling so badly, I could hardly walk. It was the most miserable time of my life. Fear made me so tense I felt I could hardly move, much less run a race. I was literally scared stiff!

As I walked to the starting post, my thoughts drifted back to one of the discussions we had had in my Christian Science Sunday School class. We'd talked about expressing the qualities of God in athletics. In anything we do we should strive to express the qualities of God. Just as a sunbeam is one with the sun so we are one with God and exist to show forth God's qualities, Running is an expression of rhythm, grace, and strength. Nervousness seemed to be limiting these qualities in me and preventing my full expression of God.
