I am so grateful for the healing experiences I have received since coming back to the study of Christian Science. Although I attended a Christian Science Sunday School as a child and had all my needs met in the home through prayer and spiritual means, I never had to do the prayerful work or get the understanding myself. As I grew older and married, I strayed away. In times of extreme stress I would turn to a Christian Science practitioner for help, which was always forthcoming.
A specific healing during this time was of one of our boys when he was just a baby. He was born prematurely and had a hernia. One night when the child was crying and this difficulty was very evident, I called a practitioner. She told me to put the child down in his bed and leave him. Although this was hard for me to do, I was obedient and went back to my bed. I sang to myself, several times, Mrs. Eddy's hymn, "Mother's Evening Prayer" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 207). It begins:
