Self-completeness

Christian Science teaches—and demonstrates through spiritual healing—that man, made in God's likeness, is complete. This Science teaches that the real man is spiritual. He is the perfect idea of infinite Mind and therefore lacks nothing. This man is not male or female, is not partially complete, needing another being to make him whole. He is actually male and female, the perfect reflection of his Father-Mother God.

The spiritual record reads, "God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."Gen. 1:27; Understanding this truth, we can heal inharmonious conditions that suggest we are incomplete, lacking something vital to our well-being. As Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes, "When we realize that Life is Spirit, never in nor of matter, this understanding will expand into self-completeness, finding all in God, good, and needing no other consciousness." Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 264;

The belief of incompleteness erroneously bases creation on matter, claiming that man is born of the flesh and that during his life cycle he must get almost everything he needs from outside himself —must find it in matter. This Adam-dream, or misconception of true being, further suggests that woman was taken out of man, and each was left to find completeness in the other.
