More than seventy-five years ago a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy was given to my great-grandmother. She read it several times and, to her great joy, was healed of old injuries received in a railway accident a few years before. She left her wheelchair and went on to live an active, productive life. Her testimony appeared in The Christian Science Journal.

This healing introduced Christian Science to our family, and we have never, since then, ceased to be grateful for Mrs. Eddy's marvelous gift to the world. Far from "inheriting" Christian Science, however, I have had to study deeply, pray humbly, and prove its teachings every step of the way.

While remaining wonderfully free from most physical illnesses, I had many lessons to learn about my fellowmen, and with one child of my own and three stepchildren, I have had ample opportunity to learn these lessons and to grow thereby.
