Last summer, while at a ranch in Colorado, I had an experience I would like to share. The counselors had planned an all-day trip to climb Mount Yale, and I signed up.

The next day when I wakened, I felt very shaky and my stomach was upset. I didn't eat any breakfast, but I did go with the rest of the group to the mountain. We drove to a trail at the base of the mountain. A little way up the trail I became sick. I realized I would not be able to rely on my parents or a Christian Science practitioner. Just then a Christian Scientist friend, who was a counselor, came up to me and asked what was the matter. I told her I wasn't feeling well.

We started up the trail, and while we were talking, she said, "I can see you as nothing less than a perfect reflection of God, and I will accept nothing less." She taught me the "mountain" step and told me to take every step seriously. She also told me to enjoy the beauty and harmony of our surroundings, and reminded me that if the mountain weren't there, we would not have the opportunity to climb it. I thought of climbing spiritually, too.
