While employed as a secretary in downtown Chicago, during my lunch hour I met a stranger who stated that he was a Christian Scientist. At that time I was deeply troubled about my husband's health. He had no sign of relief after four years of constant visits to doctors and specialists, as well as naprapaths. He also had had operations on his nose hoping for a cure of asthma.

I listened eagerly to the Christian Scientist, and the next day I went to a Christian Science Reading Room near my home, where I borrowed Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I began to read the book and could not put it down. Wednesday night I went to a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, where I gained an enlightenment I shall never forget. I enrolled my daughter in the Sunday School the following Sunday morning. Exactly two weeks elapsed before my husband had a complete healing, and I gave a testimony in a branch church. Thereafter I attended church regularly on Wednesday evening and Sunday morning. My husband disposed of all the medicines. We were a joyous family once again.

I worked with the King James Bible, Science and Health and other writings of Mrs. Eddy, and the Christian Science Hymnal. I also attended many Christian Science lectures, traveling to different parts of the city. Some years later I was healed of a lump on my chest similar to one I had had removed earlier by surgery. This time, however, I made an appointment with a Christian Science practitioner and had an instantaneous healing. This happened almost forty years ago and the healing is permanent.
