Prayer Without Time
Christ Jesus expressed compassion for a man who was ill, knowing "that he had been now a long time in that case." But he did not tell him he would have to wait further for a healing. He healed him then and there, as he healed others. See John 5:5–9;
Christian Science reveals the nothingness of matter and the allness of Mind. Mind is God, and matter is the supposititious opposite of God. Mind is eternal, timeless Being. Matter is limited, with time as one of its basic elements. Take away time, and matter would cease to have structure; it would cease to exist.
Prayer in Christian Science includes the mental realization of the truth of being. But the mentality employed is not mortal; it is divine Mind. By recognizing and expressing ideas of infinite Mind we can demonstrate the power of God. But because it is impossible to recognize clearly a divine idea while entertaining a belief in matter, the latter has to yield before the healing actually, consciously, appears. And an important step is to discount the time factor in the case at hand.
