Some time ago I received a phone call from my sister, who lives in another city, asking me to request help from a Christian Science practitioner for her oldest daughter, a fourteen-year-old girl. The daughter had been taken to an oculist due to dizziness she experienced in school, and had been found to be suffering from advanced myopia.
I called a practitioner immediately, asking her for help. She responded that I shouldn't look at the unreal picture, that I should affirm only the reality of God's creation.
At the time my sister called I was about to read the Lesson-Sermon. Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, and that is what I did. Afterward I read an article in a Herald which quoted Mrs. Eddy's thought as stated in her book Rudimental Divine Science (p. 9): "The spiritual power of a scientific, right thought, without a direct effort, an audible or even a mental argument, has oftentimes healed inveterate diseases."
