When I was young I felt a faith in God that changed my life, and I was very happy. But when the years went on and I was striving to be a good Christian but always seemed to fail, I grew more and more unhappy. At last I took leave from work for a year to find out what God meant my life to be. I asked Him to guide me, and He did. While visiting a relative in another city, I felt God literally lead my footsteps to a Christian Science Reading Room. At that time I had never heard of Christian Science. In the Reading Room I read a testimony in The Herald of Christian Science, Swedish Edition, and at once I knew: "This is right. This is the right way to live and to think."

When I started to read Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, it struck me what tremendous courage Mrs. Eddy must have had to speak and to write in that way, to draw out the utmost consequence of Christianity: God is All. Think of it, what it means! There is nothing except God and what He creates. He is the Almighty.

I shall never forget when I first read this book. Previously I had tried very hard to become God's child, but I thought I could never be accepted by God. And now I perceived as I read: You are God's child, you do not need to become one. You are created in God's image and likeness. Nothing can deprive you of knowing that. This knowledge filled me with happiness and gratitude.
