It has been over twenty years now since I turned to Christian Science to lift me out of darkness into the light of Truth. As a young girl I spent many hours in my grandmother's parlor reading copies of the Sentinel given her by a neighbor, who was a Christian Scientist. I found what I read to be deeply interesting.

Years later, after the birth of my second child, I became ill with hypertension and depression. One day while in a train station I picked up a Sentinel and a copy of The Christian Science Journal from the free literature distribution rack there. I read them from cover to cover, and my interest was reawakened. I began reading my Bible more, and the story of the woman who touched Jesus' robe stood out to me. I prayed that I, too, might touch the hem of his garment and feel this healing Christ. I mustered up the courage to call a Christian Science practitioner listed in the Journal. She was very kind and invited me to visit with her. She loaned me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I was so thirsty for the truths found in this book that I read it through within a week.

The journey from material belief to an understanding of Life as God, Spirit, was not easy. I had many things to unlearn and replace with spiritual ideas. Nevertheless, the small understanding I had of the allness of God and His goodness impelled me to push forward, and with the help of the practitioner the darkness lifted. At this point I became a sincere student of Christian Science.
