Gratitude and Spiritual Conviction
Although humanity today seems bombarded on every side with the general depression of economic, social, and moral conditions, there is a spiritual antidote. In Christian Science we learn to recast our mental molds and ground ourselves securely in gratitude, gratitude based on the scientific apprehension of life as God knows it, and thus as it truly is—harmonious, immortal, and eternal.
Our need is not for more material changes or remedies, but for spiritual rejuvenation and regeneration. Mrs. Eddy writes, "Soul has infinite resources with which to bless mankind, and happiness would be more readily attained and would be more secure in our keeping, if sought in Soul." Science and Health, p. 60;
A life "sought in Soul" is one that looks beyond the frenetic spiral of human solutions and in the midst of indecision and controversy becomes conscious of the still, small voice of Spirit. In this scientific consciousness we come to know the present government of divine Love and man's eternal safety in God's care.
