Religion was included in my early home training
Religion was included in my early home training. Attendance at Sunday School was important to me, although all early teaching implying that God was a corporeal person was puzzling and unsatisfying.
I shall always be grateful to the young friend I overheard speaking to one in trouble of God's loving presence. Her exact words are not remembered, but my first glimpse of God as Spirit and Truth, without a material, physical form, was glorious. My interest in Christian Science was immediate, and reliance on it soon followed; but my serious study came later.
My first healing through Christian Science was that of an earache, a difficulty which had recurred periodically from my earliest recollections. It had baffled the family physician and had been a source of concern to my parents for some years, but the prayerful help of a Christian Science practitioner resulted in quick healing. There was never a recurrence, and that was more than sixty years ago.
