CHOSEN

Are we not like the twelve
whom Jesus chose—
students who, like us,
had much to learn?

Sinking, we have reached for
strengthening arm of Love.
Doubting, we must sometimes
see and touch.
Forsaking golden truth
for worthless coins of earth,
we too have wept.

God teaches not in vain.
Our lessons stop at
neither grief nor grave.
We grow until we have attained
perfection's goal.
