"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name" (Ps. 103:1). In gratitude for the many blessings I have received since becoming a student of Christian Science, I wish to tell what this Science has done for me. I hope my testimony will encourage someone who is seeking healing through this religion.

My first need was to find a job. When I purchased Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy at a Christian Science Reading Room, the attendant told me to hold to the thought that God's child is always employed to express God, good, then added that if I could do something for someone else, I should do it. I pondered the truth of my real identity as God's child, and also found a way to be helpful to others. Soon I had a job.

A member of our family, who was not a Christian Scientist, had a heavy cold and asked for a doctor. When he came he said she had pneumonia and must be hospitalized. It was at this time that I began to have a cold, which continued to get worse until I realized I had symptoms more severe than my relative's.

I had read an article in one of the Christian Science periodicals that stated we must learn to master fear and not let it master us. I realized if I ever needed to master fear it was now, for I was terribly frightened. I asked myself, "Has God done nothing for me that I'm so fearful?" This led me to remember one thing after another that God had done for me. I started to praise Him for what He had done, and ended up by thanking Him for what He was going to do. I had a deep conviction He would heal me. Soon came a natural elimination of the congestion, and by morning I had no sign of a cold. I was completely healed.

Several years ago I fell on an icy pavement. My face and chest received the impact of the fall. For six weeks I couldn't lie comfortably in bed. Through the treatment of a Christian Science practitioner, who gave me this thought to hold to (Ps. 34:20), "He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken," the healing was complete, and there have been no aftereffects of the injury.

I have had many healings, some through the understanding I have gained of Christian Science and applied to my problems, and some through the help of practitioners, such as the healing of injured ribs in one day after I called for help. Other healings include ivy poisoning, indigestion, rheumatism, and burns. The latter were healed by declaring there are no accidents in God's kingdom.

I am indeed grateful to God for leading me into Science, for Christ Jesus, for Mrs. Eddy for writing Science and Health, and for the practitioners who stand by to help us in times of need. I am also grateful to be a member of The Mother Church and a branch church. I thank God for the joy and consciousness of His presence, and for the overcoming of many undesirable traits of character.

In 1958 I went on a three-month trip to European countries. I carried with me the King James Bible and the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, also the Christian Science Quarterly, which contains the Lesson-sermons that are to be studied from these books. These lessons are our daily bread, and they supply us with the inspiration and strength needed wherever we are.

At the beginning of the trip we attended a Christian Science service in a Spanish home where a small group of twelve people was assembled. Some were local residents, others from various other countries. The meeting was inspiring to me.

Later, after we passed an active day, on returning to our room in the evening I became very ill with what appeared to be a complete upset of my whole digestive system. I was so sick that I could neither think nor do anything until morning.

Then I gradually began to reason. It came to me that prior to this illness I had had a glass of water with my dinner and someone had warned me it was considered unfit for drinking. I realized I could not accept this as a law, for I believed in God's mastery of the body. I knew that in my true being as God's idea, I was controlled and governed by Him alone.

I started to study the Lesson-Sermon. It was difficult to stay with it, but when I began to realize that that day Christian Scientists all over would be reading this lesson, I felt uplifted and strengthened. I recalled that many times I had read the lesson after wakening in the night, and always I had been blessed with a wonderful feeling of peace and joy. This time, before I had finished reading, I was completely free. Naturally, my gratitude for the lesson was great. During the rest of the trip I had no further trouble. I was well and free.

This was just one of the many trying times when I have found it helpful to think of all those who are drawing strength from the reading of our weekly Lesson-Sermon. Often I have found studying and pondering the lesson several times over brings peace.
