Todd Faces Up
For years Todd had been troubled by an unsightly growth on his face. Over the years it enlarged and became more and more bothersome. It was often a subject for comments by classmates and school officials, who urged surgery.
Though earnest Christian Scientists, his parents did only halfhearted prayerful work, mostly because there was no pain. Finally, when Todd was in high school, his mother and father asked for help for him from a Christian Science practitioner. But Todd wouldn't work along with the practitioner, and the condition continued to grow.
When Todd was in his senior year, his parents began to face up to the real problem, which was Todd's attitude. He talked back to his mother, was dictatorial with friends who worked with him in ham radio, and was generally selfish and thoughtless. He took good for granted and gave little of it back.
