I first learned of Christian Science when I was thirteen years old
I first learned of Christian Science when I was thirteen years old. Our family was invited by friends to attend a Christian Science lecture.
I was very impressed by a statement quoted by the lecturer from Miscellaneous Writings by Mrs. Eddy (p. 336): "It is your province to wrestle with error, to handle the serpent and bruise its head." I was so thankful to learn in later years the source of these lines through the use of the Concordance to Mrs. Eddy's writings. The fact that a few of these words were remembered enabled me to study and ponder the spiritual meaning of these truths.
After the lecture my mother was given another book, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Mother was instantaneously healed of inflammation of the gallbladder when she read the textbook.
