We Can All Love Our Neighbor as Ourselves

The neighbors I love are not made up of flesh and bones and skin, nor do they have a mortal background and history. In "the scientific statement of being" Mrs. Eddy informs us: "Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual." Science and Health, p. 468; The real man is spiritual; he is made in the image and likeness of God. He expresses dominion, peace and joy, truth and love. These qualities come from God to man and show the infinite love that God bestows on each of His ideas.

Jesus showed us through his parable of the good Samaritan that we all can love our neighbor as ourselves by seeing everyone as spiritual, God's child.

No one is inferior. In all we read of Jesus' healings no one was ever refused because he wasn't popular. Each was healed according to his faith. Jesus' spirituality enabled him to heal. He saw the perfect man. He knew that mortal man is not God's image and likeness; therefore he was able to look right past the mortal view of man to God's perfect man and heal the sick, cast out sin, and raise the dead. We too can see the perfect man by knowing man's origin to be spiritual. We can see this in everyone, no matter what mortal mind presents.
