Christian Science was introduced to my parents...

Christian Science was introduced to my parents when I was eight years old. A member of our family was ill, and a man who worked with my father, and belonged to the local branch Church of Christ, Scientist, suggested that we try healing through prayer.

I will always be grateful to the people who brought Christian Science into my life. The illness was healed, and my brother and I were enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School. My parents joined the local church and later had class instruction.

Very soon after Science was accepted in our home, my father found one day that he was completely free of heavy smoking and the beer-drinking habit. He had done no praying in Christian Science about it; nor had he asked for prayerful help from anyone else; he just no longer had any desire for either. This blessed the whole family, and strengthened my mother so that she too was able to overcome the smoking habit.
