Gambling and Health

A Christian Science healing demonstrates the fact that man is governed by God's perfect law of health. This law directly contradicts the so-called laws of chance. Laws of chance are material laws. In fact, they are inherent in the very nature of matter. God's laws are spiritual, for God is Spirit. His laws are laws of absolute certainty. When understood and applied, they nullify laws of chance. And they heal their effects, sin, sickness, and death.

Gambling of any kind is seeking gain or pleasure through laws of chance. No one who is seriously interested in healing through the application of God's laws will knowingly gamble. Nor will he lend his support in any way to any activity that promotes, encourages, or attempts to legalize games of chance. This is not a matter of superstition or of religious dogma; it is a matter of common sense. If one is pursuing a certain goal, he does not knowingly work against the achievement of that goal.

When we are confronted with sickness and laws that declare its probable course, we can challenge the sickness and the laws pertaining to it. In God's universe there are no probabilities, only certainties. God, the divine Principle, Love, is cause. Man is the idea, or reflection, of Principle. Man is effect. There is no chance involved in this cause and effect.
