"Us," Not "Us and Them"

Oneness is a fundamental truth of God. He is One, whole, and all-inclusive. "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord" Deut. 6:4; was the proclamation of the great Hebrew leader Moses. And he and other prophets and spiritual teachers mentioned in the Bible went to great lengths to rouse people to this fact of God's oneness—His all-power and all-presence—and to keep them from fantasizing about there being other powers and other gods.

This basic statement of Deity—that He is the infinite I AM, the only Being, the only true Life and substance, the only Mind, the only governing Principle of all—is vitally important to humanity. From this fact of God's infinite oneness it follows that every object in His universe, including man, is embraced within His allness. Each one is inseparable from Him as His expression. Each one reflects His attributes and qualities, His universal oneness and His wholeness. All are complete as individual ideas and are united in the expression of God's sublime being and intelligence. Not one object of spiritual creation is ever separate from its divine creator, or from any object of the divinely created universe.

Mrs. Eddy writes, "The one Ego, the one Mind or Spirit called God, is infinite individuality, which supplies all form and comeliness and which reflects reality and divinity in individual spiritual man and things." Science and Health, p. 281;
